Rick Wood

In 1999, Rick Wood started his training with Walter Von Stietz, a 5th degree black belt under Dave Hopkins, as a way to bond with his son who was already well involved in Kung Fu San Soo. While spending time with his son, Rick fell in love with the aspect of San Soo and earned himself his brown belt in 2002 under Walter Von Stietz. Shortly after Rick’s brown belt promotion, he found himself involved with other responsibilities and took a year sabbatical from San Soo. In the Summer of 2003, Rick wanted to get back into the realm of San Soo and continued his training under Master Mike Moreno and Master Ken Hensley.

After two years as a brown belt, Rick was finally promoted to the rank of black belt in 2004 by Master Ken. Shortly after his promotion, Rick began to train with Benjamin and started his new stewardship under Master Lari Beebe. Receiving his 1st through 6th degrees from Master Lari, Rick received his 7th degree in 2011 and his 8th degree from Master Benjamin in 2012, earning himself his ‘Master’ title in San Soo.

Master Rick has been training in Kung Fu San Soo for over 14 years and accredited his knowledge in San Soo to Master Benjamin, Master Lari Beebe, Master Lee Tagney, and Master Kurt Bellman. Master Rick has given much back to his community with sharing his self defense knowledge with the county of San Bernardino employees and additionally played a pivotal role in self defense instruction at the woman’s shelter for domestic violence.

Master Rick is currently an Assistant Instructor for the Adult Program and the a part time instructor for the Kids/ Youth Program.
